Engaku-ji Temple

Engaku-ji is one of Kamakura's most important Zen Buddhist temples and was founded in 1282. Surrounded by forested hills, the temple is known for its elegant architecture and peaceful atmosphere. It remains an active center of Zen practice and one of Japan's leading Zen monasteries.
